Inside?

Just spent a good block of time checking out the new D'nB tracks I've missed from the last few weeks on Beatport, and I've got to say- I think I like the genre! Seriously though, while I've been to a couple of shows recently, it's been quite a while since I really listened to this "jungle music," and it feels really refreshing. Nothing like rediscovering something you're passionate about, right?

It might strike people who know me as kind of funny and a little strange that, despite being such an advocate for the music for so long, almost none of what I produce can really be classified as "drum and bass." It's a little funny to me too. I'd love to make some high-brow argument about how, while I love listening to it, from an artistic perspective the rigid structure that "DJ friendliness" imposes on tracks is stifling, but I don't think that's really the reason. Maybe part of the reason. I think that maybe I was just flooded by it, to the extent that I had little interest in adding more to the global catalog... who knows. But I'm feeling intrigued again now, and thinking that I might give it a shot and see what I can come up with. After all, the true path to fame and fortune is drum 'n bass production! Just ask Zinc when you run into him at his shoe store day job.

I guess it's not totally true that I haven't written anything in the genre- I did "finish" a track last year that I think qualifies. No promises quality-wise, but here it is in its entirety. Don't say I never gave you nothing.

Stolen Moments

Boh, selecta!
